One Step is Enough

The average person walks between 3,500 and 5,000 steps a day. That is a lot of opportunity to go somewhere.  The average adult makes 35,00 decisions a day. That is an even bigger opportunity to go somewhere.

Sometimes you might look at how far you've been, both with your feet and with your choices, and marvel at how much you have accomplished. Other times you might look at the path ahead of you and be overwhelmed with how far you have left to go.

But I want you to remember something:
All of it begins with one step.

There are days when it's all I can do to follow Kris Kringle's advice:

But even on days when you feel like you have no idea where you're going, that you're just stepping blindly forward, or stumbling through a field of stumbling blocks and pitfalls, or dragging each weary foot forward with all the strength you have left,

You are still making a difference.
One step can make all the difference.

You don't have to know where you're going.
You don't have to be going there at a sprint, a jog, or even a brisk walk.
You can be stumbling.
You can be dragging your feet.
You can be blindly putting one foot in front of the other.

And that is enough.

If there's one thing I've learned over the last few years of my life, it's that life is impossible to roadmap.
You might think you're going South, but this entire time, you've been marching resolutely North.
You might walk hundreds of miles in one direction only to reach a dead end and have to turn around.

Just keep putting one foot in front of the other.

There is a loving Heavenly Father guiding your steps, even when you don't know where those steps are taking you.

"Keep thou my feet. I do not ask to see/
the distant scene. One step enough for me."
